Jamie R. Urban
Costume Designer "How to Catch a Sea Monster"
As the Costume Shop Manager for the Department of Theatre & Dance, Jamie maintains and manages the costume budgets for the season, in addition to co-supervising costume production labs in the costume shop.
This Kansas native has lived on both coasts perusing her dream as a costume educator and technician. After undergrad she traveled to Orlando where she held a variety of jobs in entertainment industry before deciding to continue her education. While at Boston University, she was fortunate enough to work at Opera Boston, the Huntington Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare all before graduation!
Jamie then spent five years in Austin, TX designing costumes for world premiere new works for companies such as Ballet Austin, Breaking Strings Theater, and Hidden Room Theatre to name a few. She was a founding member of Austin's Sustainable Theatre Project and is still actively involved in encouraging theatre artists to create theatre effectively and efficiently; keeping the cost low--financially and environmentally.
