What if Puppets seeks a bilingual (Spanish/English) actor/puppeteer

to perform in a 2024 spring school semester tour of Animal Amigos.

 

About the Tour:

Animal Amigos is a two-person puppet show featuring adaptions of Mexican folk tales. The tour includes elementary schools in Liberty, MO and Kansas City, KS, about 17 days total, with some 2-show days. Set up, performance, and strike at each venue can take approximately 3 hours, not including drive time to venue.

 

This role is primarily acting focused but does include some puppetry, though puppetry experience isn't required. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Training/experience in acting, clowning, improvisation, and/or puppetry.

  • Experience or interest in performing for young people ages 4-8 years old.

  • Reliable with strong communication skills.

  • Ability to lift and move set pieces and equipment up to 40 pounds.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to drive a mini van.

Duties:

  • Attend rehearsals prepared and on time.

  • Set up, perform and strike show at school venues. 

  • Perform production as rehearsed.

  • Communicate with production staff via email.

  • Represent What if Puppet professionally and with empathy.

 

Required Availability for Animal Amigos

Rehearsals: TBD January/early February 2024 

Performances: February 13 through end of May 2024, primarily on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Wages:

Rehearsal pay rate is $75 per 3-hour rehearsal day, number of rehearsals needed TBD. 

Performance rate is $75/show.

Performers are paid as contractors.
